Photo Day: I’m back

27 Jan

So, I finally made it back to beautiful Okinawa and was reunited with my beloved camera.

My first full day back I went out and started shooting. I really didn’t have any goal for this adventure, I just wanted to get out and snap some photo’s. I usually shoot landscapes, so I really wanted to get away from that and try something new. I really want to start learning and applying new techniques I have read so much about so I can grow and develop a style of my own. Anyways…

Here are a couple shots from my day of wandering around with a big grin on my face!

Sweet Home Okinawa

25 Jan

After spending about 18-20 hours on a plane, I have finally made it back safely to Okinawa. I cannot stress how relieved and excited I am to be back in Okinawa.

There is nothing wrong with being back in the United States, I just love and appreciate so many little things that Okinawa has to offer. I think it is going to be extremely difficult when the time arrives for me to leave this amazing island in five months. I will definitely go kicking and screaming for sure!

Nothing better than being back with my beautiful wife, dog, and camera! You know I can’t forget the camera. And if you were wondering, I listed them in the order of importance starting with my old lady. Although, I think the dog may have to learn a couple new tricks or the camera might take over the number two position, haha.

Needless to say, I never want to leave Japan again…I love Japan!

Japan related photography websites

16 Jan

As the days go by here in Mississippi without my camera, I find myself spending more and more time looking at other photography related websites on the web.

Thanks to JapanSoc.com I have had the chance to discover plenty of great Japan related photography websites in the past six months. If you don’t already know, JapanSoc is a social bookmarking site, devoted to blogs and news about Japan.

Here are some of the websites that I routinely visit:

These are the websites I try to visit as often as possible. If you feel that I missed a couple, feel free to leave a comment and share your favorites with me! Hopefully you enjoy them as much as I do.

Camera Withdrawal

14 Jan

Let’s start off with explaining my problem. Many of you may know that I have been living in Okinawa, Japan for the past three years (good). However, I had to travel to the U.S. for some Windows Administration classes and was unable to bring my camera equipment with me (bad).

The past year I have taken my camera with me almost everywhere I possibly could. Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera with me and now I am facing the beginning stages of withdrawal. What makes the situation even more overwhelming is the fact that I have ordered new equipment and had it shipped to Okinawa. I can just imagine how the new equipment feels. The new equipment is just anxiously sitting in a box somewhere in my home waiting to unveiled to the world.

The good thing is that I have spent a lot of time reading and looking at other photo related blogs out there on the WWW. I can’t wait to get back and take some shots with the new gear. I will surely post photo’s as soon as I get back.

I did stumble across a website that offered a list of the Top 100 Photography Blogs . I looked through the links and there are some really great websites listed.

With all this extra "no camera time", I would love any suggestions on other great photography related websites you might visit.
