Marino’s Pizzeria | Okinawa, Japan
1 Sep
If you live on Okinawa and sometimes get the craving for Italian food, then Marino’s Pizzeria is one of my top suggestions. My wife and her friends have raved about how great this restaurant is for quite some time and I thought it would be a good time to check it out. With the long Labor Day weekend upon us, my wife and I decided to check out Marino’s Italian Restaurant located near the Main City Mall in Gushikawa.
After a ten minute drive, we finally made it to Marino’s. Once you walk in you immediately notice a cook baking pizza in their great stone oven. I loved that! It seemed pretty busy and the place was packed for a Monday afternoon, but we only waited for about three minutes before being seated. Another bonus. As I mentioned earlier, we happened to go during lunch time and expected to find a condensed menu. However, their menu still had plenty of great selections to choose from. My wife being the Marino’s pro had already made our minds up about what we would order and suggested I agree because I would not be disappointed.
You can take a look at their menu online if you interested. It appeared to me that their lunch sets offered a substantial amount of food for a great price. I also noticed meals targeting groups of two, three, four or more people. Seems to be a great place for a group get together.
My wife and I went with the Parmenara lunch set for two. This set included unlimited soft drinks at their drink bar, soup, pasta parmenara, pizza of our choice, and three desserts per person. Yes, three desserts per person. It sounds like a lot of food and let me tell you, it was! If you don’t want all that food, you can order single items from the menu also.
One of the most interesting parts of the lunch was when they wheeled out a massive chuck of Parmesan cheese to prepare your pasta table side. They actually take the pasta and roll it around in the cheese bowl before mixing it in the cream sauce, pretty cool. The oven baked pizza was very good, but we wanted to save some room for dessert so we took most of it home with us. If you are a dessert fan, you will love having the option to select three desserts from their dessert bar. Between my top dessert picks and my wife’s selections, we tried nearly all the dessert there.
After it was all said and done, our bill came to ¥3,300. I thought the food, service, and atmosphere were well worth the price and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and friendly environment.
