Photo Day: American Village at Night | Okinawa, Japan
29 Dec
My wife and I went out to American Village and decided it would be fun to test out my new 50mm 1.8d lens that she got me for Christmas.
American Village is a popular hangout area for Americans and locals. It is centrally located around Kadena Air Base, Camp Lester, and Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan. Generally, any day of the week you can find some type of performer doing their thing!
My wife even decided that she wanted to take a couple shots with the new lens. You can check out some of the shots below.

Here are some photo’s that Britt took
You can check the rest of the night photo’s from American Village here . If you feel like checking out all of my Okinawa photo’s, check out my Okinawa gallery page.

Looks like a fun place. Lots of lights to keep the evening lively.
freedomwv,
American Village is a great spot. I live only 5 minutes away, so I go there often.
I really loved it there in okinawa i really need to go back we had sooo many friends and then there out of my familys life just like that but the main thing is okinawa will alway be one of my cherished memories
It was definitely hard to leave Okinawa this past summer. My wife and I will miss the island a lot. It is hard to truly describe to others the great culture there. You just have to experience it for yourself.
I have been here a year now and live in Yomitan in a house overlooking the China Sea. I have learned so much about the culture and amazing traditions. I feel so comfortable here and have lots of friends both American and locals. It is a great learning experience. This spring I hope to learn to dive. When were you here?
Stephanie,
I was in Okinawa from 2006-2009 and I loved every moment of it. I never took up scuba diving, but I did routinely go free diving when I got the chance.
My wife and I just left not too long ago and we miss it dearly. I hope you really enjoy every minute of the culture…it is truly unique!
